A high-level workshop for African LDCs is being organized by the Government of Turkey in Izmir, Turkey, on 4-5 March as a contribution to UNCTAD's 12th Ministerial Conference, which will take place in Accra, Ghana, from 20 to 25 April 2008.
The workshop will address the theme of the high-level segment of the Conference, "Trade and development for Africa's prosperity: action and direction", but focusing on the continent's thirty-three least developed countries. The objective is to help them with their development and economic progress in areas within UNCTAD's competence.
The workshop will be attended by ambassadors of African LDCs and representatives of international organizations. It is a reflexion of Turkey's commitment to support the development efforts of the LDCs in Africa.
